My creative excitement for the BIG WIG stems from a deep appreciation for a “toned-down chaos of design”, which barely whispers clear across the room- I am HERE perhaps the undiscipline of being self-taught has gifted me the freedom of graciously honoring Gaia with eco-conscious beautiful designs …let there be light

The Big Wig's humble origin and sustainable beginnings took shape at our Miami studio. While turning metal rods for a custom project, I became enamored with the residual scrap metal whirling off our lathe. Givenchy, who's an amazing inspiration says “Fabric is the most extraordinary… it has life...You must respect the fabric” Words that create the ethos of our design ethics but are so true also to our humble “fabric” lamp shade, run-off, metal shavings that at some point could have become oversized screws, decorative ballasts, torches- other grandeur designs destined for other more luxurious homes. Each is original and true to material and design. A symphony of metal textures, as intricate and personalized as hair. From dreadlocks to thin strands - Aluminum, Brass, and Stainless Steel twirled together into a beautifully orchestrated metal wig, resembling something between Shirley Temple and Jason Momoa. Ultimately finding new life in the noblest of beginnings – LIGHT.

Creating the first Big Wig light was a commission for well, a corporate bigwig’s office. And yes- The Big Wig was a Big Hit. The beauty of light bursts and shadows was amazing, half mood light, half art, and all completely upcycled! Each metal shade is "hairstyled," cradling a clear LED light housing, perched on top of its original source - the metal tube(s), then ceiling hung or set in reclaimed hardwoods bases.

Our bases are all-naturally fallen timber or scrap wood from previous projects (we use lots of scrap wood to make biochar for our garden as well). All our metal tubes are cut-offs also destined for the scrap metal recycle furnace…and yes even our acrylic light boxes are cut-offs from previous projects (did we mention we love acrylic furniture), we use LED lights and even upcycled cable outlets from thrift stores (we will soon be switching to a green lamp supplier for these to meet demand). The Big Wig is beautiful artful, and adds to a space’s intimacy, initiating low whispers debating whether it is art or light? Standing alone as an artful anchor piece, bedazzling as a chandelier, or as an artful novelty lamp perched on a buffet…whatever the setting the layering and deconstructed nature of each lamp creates its own unique glow, shadow, and mood while echoing luxury style that is kind to Mother Earth. Due to the unique nature of manufacturing our Big Wig Lamp, we can offer some very customizable designs prices begins at $600 contact us for a quote based on dimensions and specifications (production is currently at 12-16 weeks)
